Communications – 2008 Chair: Sadie Trytten
Develop and distribute the Membership Directory, which involves gathering information and advertising space. Gather information for the monthly newsletter. Help maintain and update website.

Economic Development – 2008 Chair: Jeff Saddoris
Work with local groups and report to South Des Moines Chamber Board on how we can assist in their efforts. Provide assistance in planning and promoting the Economic Development Forum.

Education – 2008 Chair: Juliana Kincheloe
Promote two $500 South Des Moines Chamber of Commerce Scholarships to high school seniors who live, volunteer or work in South Des Moines. Assist the Scholarship Selection Committee.

Governmental Affairs – 2008 Chair: Anne Shimerdla
Encourage awareness of the political process and arrange forums to assist in establishing relationships between Chamber members and elected and appointed local government officials. Represent the South Des Moines Chamber of Commerce at the Greater Des Moines Partnership Governmental Affairs meetings.

Membership Campaign – 2008 Chair: Megan Shields
Achieve net growth according to Board’s direction throughout the year. Develop and implement plan to secure new members. Maintain existing membership levels by developing programs to encourage members to continue to renew. Analyze non-renewals and recommend corrective actions to prevent erosion of memberships.

Programs – 2008 Chair: Shirlee Krouch
Provides programs for monthly membership luncheons that are informative, educational, and timely and which addresses the needs of membership. Schedule, promote and attend area business after hours events.

Special Events – 2008 Chair: Anne Shimerdla
This committee includes the Annual Dinner, Spring Social and Golf Outing.
Annual Dinner: Schedule date and location of Annual Dinner. Develop program and entertainment. Select Citizen of the Year from nominations received by citizens and membership. Spring Social: Coordinate the spring social held in May. Obtain silent auction items and sponsorships. Encourage attendance and plan programs for the event.
Golf Outing: Work with EDM and Carlisle Chambers to organize annual golf outing. Work to obtain sponsorships and door prizes. Although all three events are in one committee, you can sign up to help with each event separately.

Superblock – 2008 Chair: Chad Alley
Assist with and coordinate redevelopment efforts of the South Des Moines Superblock Development.

S.W. Ninth St. Business Corridor Committee – 2008 Chair: Cathy Steiner
Work to develop plans to improve the S.W. Ninth St. Business Corridor through beautification, road and sidewalk updates and building and residential improvements.
