| PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE |
| |
The Southside is sizzling with excitement! There are so many positive things going on around the South Side. We all
need to step back and really take time to notice the wonderful things in our community.
It's great driving down Fleur Drive and always seeing plenty of people taking advantage of our beautiful Gray's
Lake and Waterworks Park. The bike trails, Blank Park Zoo, Nahas Aquatic Center, South Side Public Library, Skate
South, Southridge Mall, Easter Lake, Ewing Park plus all of our fabulous restaurants, make living, working and
playing here exciting.
Our Chamber Night at Principal Park was a huge success! The weather was perfect and so was our representation
of the South Des Moines Chamber. I would personally like to thank Jessica Kincheloe, Amanda Bellegante and Annamarie
Bellegante for doing a fabulous job singing the National Anthem. You made all of us very proud!! Thanks also to
Shirley Klier, the granddaughter of one of our SDM Chamber Members, Mary Jo Buhl of American Awards. Shirley did a
great job of shooting hot dogs at the crowd! A special thank you to Charlie & Mary Bickford, Craig Krouch, Shar
Pardubsky, Mary Knueven and all of the other SDM members who helped make our tailgate a lot of fun.
August 9th is the Iowa State Fair Parade. The Affiliate Presidents from the surrounding Chambers will be on a
truck as part of the Parade. Our theme is "President's On A Stick." I've been practicing my "wave." Please be sure
to cheer for South Des Moines!
I hope to see you at our next membership luncheon and upcoming ribbon cuttings! Thanks for all of your support
and for making our year as a Chamber a success!
Enjoy your summer!
Juliana Kincheloe, President
