| PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE |
| |
The year is off to a great start! We had a successful Legislative Reception. The South Des Moines Chamber
had a fabulous display table with pictures, flowers and a DVD slide show of all of our past events. Robin's
Wood Oven Grill was able to showcase some of their delicious appetizers, which were very popular with the
legislators and special guests. Having the reception at the Iowa Events Center was another sign of how much our
city is growing. Everyone who attended the Legislative Reception enjoyed meeting our government officials and
other Affiliate Chamber members from all around the metro.
The Annual Dinner at the Four Points Sheraton was a huge success! I would like to thank all of our sponsors:
Baker Electric, Wells Fargo, West Bank & Wyckoff Industries for their contributions to our Annual Dinner. Special
thanks to Des Moines Metro Brass for doing a fabulous job of entertaining us during the reception. Congratulations
to Mary Said, our Citizen of the Year, and Verna May, our Volunteer of the Year! Both of our award winners are great
examples of why the south side shines.
Congratulations to Southwest Family Physicians! Welcome to the South Des Moines Chamber of Commerce and welcome
to the south-side! We are honored to have you here and wish you many years of prosperity. The ribbon cutting on
Jan. 26th was one of our largest attended ribbon cuttings. I think that is a sign that the entire community is
glad you are here!
Please mark your calendars for our upcoming events. Remember, you will get out of the Chamber what you put
into the Chamber. Attending our events is one way to get the most out of your membership. Networking with other
business members is a great way to exchange business and develop strong friendships. We are planning some new
events you will NOT want to miss! The SDM Chamber is here for YOU! Let us know if your business has expanded,
moved, remodeled, etc. We would be happy to announce any news about your company in our newsletter, which goes
out to all members once a month.
I am looking forward to a successful year. In order to grow our membership, I would like to encourage ALL
current members to PLEASE get one new member to join our "business family." Just 1! If everyone just brought in
one new member, we would double our membership and double our south side pride!
I'm looking forward to seeing you soon!
Juliana Kincheloe, 2006 President

Physicians. The clinic is located at 4821 SW 9th Street in Des Moines and their phone number is 515-262-8471.
They are currently taking new patients and are glad to be part of the south side community.

were eligible to receive up to $1,000 each during 2006.
Award recipients were selected by a review panel based on how print services will be used to further
organization goals including service expansion, program enhancement and maximization of existing resources, as
well as the organization's innovation and resourcefulness.
"Allegra Print & Imaging in Des Moines is proud to be part of a community that has so many fine organizations,"
said Eaton. "This year's winners of the FootPRINT Fund demonstrate the type of commitment and ingenuity that we are
looking for in recipients of this award. We are honored to support them in their local efforts."
Allegra Print & Imaging launched the FootPRINT Fund as part of its Community Care Campaign, a nationwide effort
supported by the company's franchise headquarters, Allegra Network. The FootPRINT Fund was developed to help unite
and strengthen local communities by assisting eligible nonprofit organizations and associations in building their
awareness and increasing local support.
To be considered for a FootPRINT Fund award, nonprofit groups, associations and charitable organizations must
submit a completed application. Next year's applications will be available in January at 1000 Thomas Beck Rd. or on
our Web site at www.allegradsm.com.
"The FootPRINT Fund award is intended to make it a little easier for our community organizations to make a
difference, one step at a time," said Rhoades. "And it is a way for us at Allegra Print & Imaging to thank the
community for its ongoing business and support."
We are now accepting applications, look for them on line at www.allegradsm.com.
